The Rix Family

Zach and Dania have been married for 14 years. They first met in Tegucigalpa while Zach was serving as a missionary associate under his great uncle, Bill Strickland.  Shortly after getting married, they returned to Central Florida to be part of the pastoral staff at Life Church Assembly of God in Fruitland Park.  While living back in Florida, the Rix family was. Blessed to see their family grow with the birth of three daughters, Gabriela (12yrs), Sofia (11yrs), and Rebeca (8yrs). After serving several years as youth pastors, God spoke clearly to them to return to Honduras as career missionaries.  In the fall of 2017, the Rix family landed in San Pedro Sula, Honduras to begin their first term. During their second itineration in 2021-2022, Dania gave birth to a baby boy, Lucas (2yrs).  Now all 6 of the Rix’s are in the middle of their second term on the mission field.  They will return once more for itineration in the summer of 2026.

Honduras is a beautiful country made up of wonderful people.  Unfortunately, there are serious needs in this great country.  Nearly half of the population is younger than 16 years old.  Children and youth are at extreme risk of poverty, abuse, violence, gangs, and drugs.  Honduras has continually had one of the world’s highest murder rates and corruption  runs rampant.  Pray for this wonderful country and that God will bring a revival that will change lives for all of eternity.

CHURCH PLANTING

The Assemblies of God in Honduras has begun a church planting initiative among the Garifuna people group along the north coast of the country.  There are roughly 50 Garifuna villages where vibrant, spirit-filled churches are needed.  Currently the Rix family is actively planting a church in the community of Bajamar, just outside of Puerto Cortes.  They are seeing souls saved and discipled among the people there.  Please pray for open doors into other Garifuna villages and for workers to be trained to pastor new church plants

Recently, Zach became the national representative for Global University in Honduras.  Currently, there are roughly 75 students throughout the country working on achieving their Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and Theology.  Pray that during this next term on the field, this important ministry will continue to grow in order for pastors to be trained and sent out.

During the past 7 years, the Rix family has been able to oversee the construction of 4 different churches. These four churches are new church plants, in small villages, along the north coast of Honduras. Also, in 2023, the Rix’s completed the building of a school for deaf children in the city of San Pedro Sula. Around 50 deaf children attend the school each day. Many of them come from impoverished families, dangerous neighborhoods, and have few opportunities. However, now their future is much brighter because of the education they are able to receive at the school.  Lastly, a remodeling project is underway right now at the Bible School in San Pedro Sula. There are eight buildings on campus, and each one needs to be completely renovated. This will allow the Rix’s to raise up the next generation of Honduran leaders, and pastors while multiplying their impact across the nation.
